Think rolling green hinterland, little mountain towns full of chocolate and handmade goods, sweeping coastal views, and rainforest that stops you in your tracks. This is one of Queensland’s most underrated day trips, and we think you’ll love every moment of it.

Stop 1: The Ginger Factory, Yandina
The Ginger Factory is a wonderful first stop. Wander through the tropical gardens, learn how ginger goes from crop to shelf, try ginger ice cream, and pick up a few treats to take home. It is easy to explore, and genuinely fascinating even if you are not a big ginger fan.

Stop 2: Nutworks and the Chocolate Factory
Right next door, Nutworks celebrates Queensland macadamia nuts and the on-site Chocolate Factory is exactly what it sounds like. There are tastings, you can watch the production process, and it is very hard to leave without at least one bag of something. A solid sugar hit before heading into the hills.

Stop 3: Montville Village
Montville is one of those little towns that looks like it was designed for slow afternoons. Boutique shops, local art galleries, handmade clothing, artisan goods, and cafes on every corner. The streets are calm, walkable, and genuinely lovely. A great place to stretch your legs and find something to bring home.

Stop 4: Gerrards Lookout
This is where the views open up. Gerrards Lookout sits along the Blackall Range and on a clear day you can see all the way to the coast, including landmarks like Caloundra and Noosa. There is a small car park, some seating, and a view that genuinely stops you in your tracks. Bring your camera.

Stop 5: Mary Cairncross Scenic Reserve
The final stop is one of the most memorable. Mary Cairncross Scenic Reserve is a 55-hectare subtropical rainforest, 299 plant species, and 141 bird species. From the lookout at the entrance, sweeping views over the Glass House Mountains make for a stunning close to the day.
